

AWAKEN YOUR OUTDOOR SPIRIT

ROCK CLIMBING
2-3 times we will have the thrill of rock climbing at a local climbing gym. This works on upper & lower body and core strength along with bullding self confidence. (Athletes will pay a discounted gym fee).

FLY FISHING
3 sessions. Session 1 learn how to cast a fly rod and use flies. On the 2nd and 3rd sessions we will go fishing at a catch and release pond at the Cold Springs Trout Farm. (Athletes will pay a discount rate for admittance to Cold Springs)

PADDLEBOARDING
1 time come glide along the water with us

MOUNTAIN BIKING
We mountain bike 10-20 times and have the thrill of riding on the mountain. This will build great cardio and muscular endurance, along with being an intense core workout and building self confidence. It will also give the kids uncountable opportunities to make decisions while they dodge and roll over rocks. Athletes will need comfortable clothes and their own montain or BMX bike. One of these sessions will be a bike maintenance class.

DOWNHILL SKI/SNOWBOARD
Have fun in the "Greatest Snow on Earth". We will go night ski/snowboard at Nordic Valley almost every week. On an additional day we will learn how to tune our equpment. (Athletes will need a day or season pass and equipment - rentals can be arranged).

ORIENTEERING
2 part session. In week 1 we will learn how to read a map and use a compass. In the second week we will split up into teams and embark on an "Amazing Race" style competition to find flags hidden in the woods. Maps and compasses wil be provided.

AVALANCHE AWARENESS TRAINING
This one night event will use the "Know Before You Go" curriculum to teach how to travel safe in the mountains during snow season.

HIKING
5-10 times we will enjoy exploring different trails along the wasatch front. This will build cardio and muscular endurance while seeing nature up close. Athletes must wear comfortable athletic shoes

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
1-2 times we will explore the snowy forests of North Fork Park. This is the best cardio workout with an awe inspiring backdrop. (athletes will need a day pass from north fork, discount rentals will be arranged if needed)

SLACKLINING/SLAMBALL
2-3 times we will work on our balance to walk across a low slackline or have a fun day playing slamball.

Flowrider - Indoor Surfing
2 times this year we will go to flowrider as a group (additional cost for this activity)

MULTI SPORT EXPERIENCE
We know it is hard to be on multiple sports teams during the same season, let alone start a new sport competitively after the age of 9.
Wasatch Outdoor Sports gives an athlete the chance to develop a variety of physical skills which can best be developed through a diverse sporting experience. This approach develops an overall more rounded athlete.
There are undoubted physiological benefits to a diverse sports experience, but there are also huge psychological benefits to trying new things. Learning new skills and just having fun exploring builds self confidence. Outdoor sports can teach us many life lessons.
Participating in these activities have numerous lifelong benefits. This is why WASATCH OUTDOOR SPORTS was born.
